If I ever cant walk as fast as I want (and I regularly have been told to “slow down!”) I will get me a shiney red mobility scooter! Two years ago, we entered our company in a parade and we featured two scooter riders and one walker. Guess who rode one of the scooters? And guess who had the fastest scooter of the two? G’head…guess!

Purchasing a new scooter can be daunting, and pricey, but it doesnt have to be. So, I put together a list for you!

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to talk with a former critical care nurse (who oddly is now an electrician). Anyway, during the course of our conversation, she told me she had been a critical care nurse for 25+ years, but she had to change careers after she broke her back on the job.

Urinary catheters are used to drain the bladder due to incontinence, urinary retention, surgery or other medical conditions that prohibit normal function. Careful handling and cleaning is required since catheters can introduce bacteria to the body, so irrigation and insertion trays are recommended.

Yesterday, we had a very nice lady inquire about purchasing a knee walker/rolleraid. She said she priced rentals locally and decided to purchase, and then resell the rolleraid for a fraction of the original cost to recoup her expense. She needed the rolleraid for about 8 weeks while recovering from surgery.

When we informed her we also rented knee walkers/rolleraid, she said she found it was cheaper to purchase since rental rates of these fun little knee walkers was so high.

Little did she know that OUR rental rates were so low!

I am 40 years old today!

I quite enjoyed my 30’s, so turning 40 is something I didnt necessarily want to happen. I have always embraced my age and its been my policy to divulge my true age when asked. It is part of who I am and I should never be ashamed!

I have repeatedly been told that the 40’s are awesome! So Im going with “the 40’s are the new 30’s”. And that means the 30’s are the new 20’s. And the 20’s are the new teenagers. Makes sense, if you think about it.

When shopping for a 3 or 4 wheeled walker, here are keypoints to help you find the right one for you!
1) All walkers should list a user height that the walker is designed for. For example, someone that is 5’6″ should look for a walker that “fits users 5’6″ to 6′”.
2) There is a corresponding seat height to each user height. For users with longer or shorter legs in relation to their height, look for a walker with the correct seat height. For example, if you have shorter legs, look for a shorter seat height such as 18″.

I was out of the office all of last week because the time had finally come to sort through my beloved mother-in-law’s estate. Our goal was to sort, pack and empty out the house she had lived in for over 40 years.

All I can say is WOW, there was a lot of stuff, and quite frankly, we didnt not get it done in the 4+ days, and we worked very HARD.

To help others, here are 5 Steps to Sorting Through an Estate:

June, a simply wonderful woman, came into our store looking for a new wheelchair. It was her first purchase, and her first experience with wheelchairs and she needed the “low-down” on what was available.

So, we decided to share this wisdom with everyone else!

There are basically three kinds of wheelchairs:

The goal of our new health care bill is to expand coverage to more people, reduce costs and improve quality of care.

Those are goals that most everyone agrees upon. Of course how we go about achieving those goals has created some rather heated arguments.

Even if we can find a way to cover most Americans for less cost and with higher quality, I have to ask: Who is going to provide our healthcare under the new reform bill?
